About Us
The Colonist Report Africa (TCRAfrica) is registered in Nigeria as The Colonist Africa Limited. TCRAfrica is a data-driven, independent investigative media outlet that uncovers local under-reported but important environmental, climate, and energy stories in Africa. We spotlight past and present events that are still affecting people and hold those in power accountable. While reporting African issues around our focus areas, we will not forget to spotlight the heroes in Africa making great changes to the continent.
Our coverage areas include forests, oceans, land rights, and science-based research. We monitor activities at sea and in ports, giving voice to underrepresented communities in Africa. We go beyond press releases to bring true stories and use verified data to report stories.
Our independent ownership structure renders us utterly immune to political influence within and outside Africa. We value covering all sides of the story and giving equal weight to all perspectives.
At TCRAfrica, our reporters and freelancers adhere to the best practices and ethics of journalism. We only go undercover to get stories where there is public interest. We ensure our reports are accurate, and if errors occur, we quickly correct them and indicate the changes. Our goal is to see the Africa of our dreams free of environmental degradation caused by human activities that have resulted in climate and energy crises.
TCRAfrica has a tech department called JournoTECH. At JournoTECH, we focus on training journalists, educators, newsrooms, and marginalized groups and communities within and outside Africa. We collaborate with The Colonist Report UK to run and manage the activities of JournoTECH
If you have the skills, dedication, and interest in impactful storytelling, we encourage you to apply.
