The Colonist Report Africa Reporter Selected for 2025 Science Journalism Forum Fellowship

The Colonist Report Africa reporter, Blossom Gilbert-Amakiri, has been selected for this year’s Science Journalism Forum (SJF) Fellowship, which will be held both virtually and in-person in the United Arab Emirates.

The Science Journalism Forum is a leading global event that brings together science communicators, journalists, researchers, and thought leaders to explore the evolving relationship between science, media, and public engagement. The 2025 edition promises a dynamic exchange of ideas on the future of science journalism.

Blossom’s selection for the fellowship will strengthen her ability to report science-focused environmental stories for The Colonist Report Africa while deepening her knowledge of science reporting.

Reacting to the news, Miss Gilbert expressed her excitement: “The fellowship is going to expand my knowledge and understanding of journalism. I’m really excited to have been selected as one of the candidates. It means a lot to me because I’ll get to learn more about journalism and everything involved.”

Gilbert-Amakiri will be joining other professionals virtually as part of the fellowship.

The fellowship offers her the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals dedicated to advancing science communication and tackling misinformation in today’s complex media landscape.
