The Colonist International Ltd. is the publisher of The Colonist Report (TCR), registered in the United Kingdom with the registration number 15222317. TCR is an independent, data-driven media outlet that investigates and reports on important environmental, climate, and energy stories in developing nations that are often under-reported.

We spotlight past and present events that are still affecting people and hold those in power accountable. While reporting these issues around our focus areas, we will not forget to spotlight the heroes making great changes to the nation.

Our coverage areas include forests, oceans, land rights, and science-based research. We monitor activities at sea and in ports, giving voice to underrepresented communities in developing countries. We will go beyond press releases to bring true stories and use verified data to report stories.

Our independent ownership structure renders us utterly immune to political influence within and outside Africa. We value covering all sides of the story and giving equal weight to all perspectives.

TCR was founded by Elfredah Kevin-Alerechi, a Nigerian independent journalist who has exposed dozens of environmental crimes caused by multinational companies in Africa. 

She has led teams in Europe and Africa to expose cross-border crimes in Africa. With the unending environmental crimes happening in remote areas of developing nations, Elfredah felt there were more that needed to be reported, which is why TCR is particularly interested in focusing on local stories. Elfredah also founded The Colonist Report Africa

At TCR, our reporters and freelancers will adhere to the best practices and ethics of journalism. We will only go undercover to get stories where there is public interest. We will ensure our reports are accurate and where we notice we have gotten it wrong, we will quickly correct our report and indicate the changes.

Our goal is to empower local journalists from developing nations and see the countries of our dreams free of environmental degradation caused by human activities resulting in climate and energy crises.
